Identify it by sound

Rumbling or grinding through the whole travel is worn rollers. Squealing is dry hinges, bearings or spring. A deep metallic groan as the door starts moving is the torsion spring. Banging is loose hardware or a close limit set too low. A shudder that travels into the room above is flat-spotted rollers plus a rigidly mounted chain drive.

What we fit and why

Nylon wheels on sealed ball-bearing races. Nylon against steel does not ring the way steel against steel does, the sealed race keeps out dust and moisture, and the wheel itself cannot rust. We use 10-ball or heavier as standard — cheap 7-ball rollers exist for a reason, and on a heavy insulated door in Florida they are a false economy.

Hinges come with them

Hinges and rollers wear together, and an elongated hinge hole will chew a brand-new roller stem within months. Doing both on the same visit costs a fraction of doing them separately. We also check the end bearings on the torsion shaft — a dry one produces a grind everybody blames on rollers.

How the job runs

Secure the door and release stored energy safely — bottom rollers sit in brackets under direct cable tension.
